Free MP3 / WMA mass tag editor

Post by Krom »

I could use a free program that can simplify MP3 and WMA tag editing both on large and small scale jobs. (flac, ape and wavpack support wouldn't hurt but isn't a requirement either) It doesn't have to be perfect, it just has to be much faster and much easier then winamp or advanced wma workshop but still free. Does anyone have any suggestions before I start sifting through the billion hits on google for one that doesn't suck?

I ripped all my cd's to wav's, encoded them with lame, then ran them through Tagscanner in one shot to set their mp3 tags. It works well, been using it for a few years. I originally found it in '03 when trying to reverse my mistake of encoding my mp3's through RealJukebox. It did a fine job of removing all Real's embedded crap from 6000 songs.

foobar2000

it supports limited scripting for its mass-tagger, filling tags based on the filepath, and moving/copying based on the above.

When I finally got around to giving my MP3 collection sane tags (about when I realised how useful the library features in Windows Media Play were) I used MusicBrainz but it still required a bit of manual selection, doesn't support WMA afaik and since it's a community maintained effort, is likely to be full on innaccuracies.
