What's your job?
What's your job?
Well, since my job has just been fixed and is set to start in october '07, I was wondering what you guys do for a living.
After two master's degrees and seven years of university I signed a contract to work at the marketing division at P&G. I'm also still working for my own hosting company, which I co-own with a friend of mine.

I am a Technology Specialist for a college University. I am responsible for the Domain Server, Network environment and all PCs/Laptops in one of the many campus locations. I am also the supervisor for the helpdesk that is available to the university students. I am also involved in content development for our Web Portal.
I've never had such a fun job, I get to take on so many roles and I have a blast almost every day I go in.

I'll be a student forever.
But for money, I'm a sound engineer & light designer in both large and small scale productions.
Some notable clients.
* Peter Frampton
* Poison
* Click-5 (they had a hit last year)
I don't tour (yet) so generally the larger clients I'm doing more \"Make sure this guy is happy\" work then real engineering work. But it's a real fun job (when done right) and makes good money.
I'm 8 credits shy of a degree in Computer Science. I have yet to finish.

You might be one of our customers if you buy parts from either Action Crash or their parent company, LKQ Corp.

Most of what I do ends up being bracketry-related stuff. Most of what we do is custom, so I have to help with mounting solutions, etc.

Software Engineer in Telecommunications. I'm a dinosaur working on mainframes. And trust me, the following quotes are all VERY true:
The use of COBOL cripples the mind; its teaching should, therefore, be regarded as a criminal offence. (Edsger Dijkstra)
Cobol has almost no fervent enthusiasts. As a programming tool, it has roughly the sex appeal of a wrench. (Charles Petzold)
A computer without COBOL and FORTRAN is like a piece of chocolate cake without ketchup or mustard. (John Krueger)

I'm a document operations technician for a firm that electronically warehouses legal documentation for large multinational companies.
It may sound boring but when you get to read and review documents created by some of these lawyers, you cant help but lol.
I swear I saw a document with \"Received\" and \"Recieved\" in the same header line.
Also, there is a system to group documents using a set of 4 letters made up of first 3 letters of the last name of the owner, and then the first letter of the first name. Let your imagination run on some of the words that can generate. (I'm afraid I cant give any actual examples without breaking my confidentiality agreement.)

Full-time CAD operator for a wireless telecommunications A&E firm - I draw cellular transmission sites (towers, equipment cabinets/shelters, antennas, etc.).
I'm still working part-time as a PC repair tech at CompUSA. If I can stand working there 'til April, I'll mark my ten year anniversary there (dunno whether to laugh or cry about that).

What I really want to do is get into actuarial work, as my background is mathematics, and I've already passed the first certification exam on my own.
