1280x1024 TFT only runs in 1280x768 on Linux

Purchased a 19\" TFT today, native resolution 1280x1024.

My openSUSE 10.1 64 bit Linux distro only runs it in 1280x768. As the monitor wasn't listed by YaST, I changed the specs of an existing monitor entry to those of my new monitor, set screen res to 1280x1024, but that didn't help.

After rebooting, the screen res was only 1280x768.

Please help.

look in the screen section in the xorg.conf

make sure you take out everything that doesn't say 1280x1024

Yeah, that was the only thing that actually helped. And then I had still to tell the Gnome desktop to use exactly that resolution.
