it "WAS" a 1990 escort.

as per the a$$kickin hows this sound. it was on an old country road with no injuries and no personal property loss, the accident happened in the field of an abandoned farm house. I did not need to call the sheriff's department but I did, when he showed up he told me that he was not needed and was going to go without investigating the accident since there were no injuries. I told him WAIT A MINUTE, give him a ticket. after thinking about it he got out and looked at the scene and commenced to give him a $450 wreckless driving ticket, while he was investigating I called a tow truck, they pulled it out of the field and towed it to my house for another $235, he is out another $300 for the car he had just bought from his older sister which is now in the pictures above, his insurance agent will soon find out he has a wreckless driving ticket on his record and raise his rates prolly 3 fold, so thats another $300 a month, he also has to pay the tow to the crushers which will probably cost him another $300 not to mention he'll have to spend another $1,000 minimum on a new car so when I add all this up its

ticket $450
tow $235
car $300
ins $300 per month
2nd tow $300
new car $1000

Total $2,585

with his part time job at Sears it may take a while to pay that one off

wow 1000 bucks for a new (used&older) car??? THAT's REALLY cheap, man!
but 300$ for the insurance? wow! (here in Germany, kids have to pay about 1000$ per YEAR)

crazy.

and more than 2000 bucks...that's pretty much money for a kid. I think he won't be happy for the next longer time, will he?

this thread would make a good printout to give to your son, with all the horror stories. it's true "everyone knows someone" who's died in a car.

tell your son, he should have been a statistic, but somehow he's got a 2nd chance.

He meant $300 MORE on the insurance. if the kinds insurance was below $1500 before the accident I'd be suprised.

Feel lucky the insurance company didnt drop him entirely. So you are going to make him pay for it all Cuda? I think that is a good idea.

Yeah, make him pay off all of the $$ related to the accident. Furthermore, make him pay for his own insurance from now on. Can't afford it? Make him walk. Otherwise ... get ready for another one of these ... Plus ... he might not be so lucky next time.

Cuda, 18 year olds believe their parents are retarded. 18 year olds are Masters Of The Universe and have seen it all and done it all, and you can't tell them ANYTHING.

By 25, you will have grown a bit less moronic is his eyes. When he turns 30 you'll probably be at IQ100, and by the time he is 35, you will have magically become a freaking genius - and he will wonder how you got so smart in the preceding 15 years!

There was no guardian angel in his passenger seat - unless you count a seatbelt as a guardian angel. He WAS wearing a setabelt - right? If he wasn't - then THAT is the thing I would REALLY chew his a$$ out about!

Best thing is probably to get him into some advnaced driver training - or even register him with a local race car club and get him onto a race track.

I swear, he will learn more about car control and appropriate speeds in 2 hours on a race track than he will learn in the next 5 years on the open road.

He would have been ejected from the car if he wasn't wearing a seat belt... duh.

And only the arrogant kids think their parents are dumb. I've always listened to my mother when it comes to stuff like this. Always have my belt on, I'm not dumb enough to go flyin down small roads at high speeds. I have a tendancy to speed again on large, open highways, but otherwise I always stay close to the limit.

I was quite the opposite from the "typical" teenage driver. I didn't get into my first accident till just 3 1/2 months ago. (I'm 22.)
It was just a fender bender. Rear ended some guy who started to take off on the highway onramp and stopped shortly after. THought the had gone...

I rear ended an old lady when I was 19 because she stopped suddenly even though the traffic in front of her had already moved on about 3 car lengths and I was picking up speed expecting her to keep going.

No damages, she was so upset at her rear bumper, said her husband was going to kill her. All she had was a bunch of paint from the front of my truck on it. I licked my fingers and cleaned part of it off with just my hand. Told her if she took a wet wash clothe and rubbed it down the paint would come right off.

Meanwhile my front bumper and front liscence plate was all dented in.

Then I had some ★■◆● at a stop light roll backwards and hit me. She had the nerve to attempt to get out of her car and say that I hit her. The only reason I laid on my horn was because she was rolling back at me. She quickly got back in her vehicle when I openned my door and stepped out of my truck.

Last accident I had was making a right hand turn and a pedestrian on a bike hit the front passenger side of my truck. Now, I had stopped because the light was red checking traffic when he hit me. The cops didn't give me a ticket because he was riding on the wrong side of the road anyways. He ended up filing a claim to the insurance company though and then eventually dropped it.

Otherwise I've been extremely fortunate not to be involved in worse accidents and hope (knock on wood) that none come my way any time soon.

Ahh, I thought it looked smaller than a Tempo, but I don't see many Escorts that old around here...

And since we're now recounting accident stories, I don't have any. Like defender, I am the anti- typical teenage driver. I drive the speed limit, am very cautious and courteous. I like to mix up stereotypes. I did get pulled over once, though, a few months ago, in the morning when I accelerated from a stop sign and forgot to stop accelerating. Didn't get a ticket because I was honest though.

on the subject of paying for his new car and all that stuff. That car in the above picture was mine, i wrecked it when i was 18, i'm 19 now so it wasn't that long ago. I would just like to point out that i already am paying for my carS, that's right both of them. When i was in highschool i had 2 cars. That was my nice car, and i had a beater i drove in the snow.

I payed $291 a month for the car, and 200 a month for insurance, plus a $45 cellphone bill. So don't make it sound like every kid in the world has a free ride when it comes to cars. Because of that accident, i now pay $336 a month for my new car, and $300 a month for insurance. so my payments went from 500 a month to over 600.

Some kids do pay for there own stuff, and mommy and daddy don't do anything but say, "as long as you can make the payments you can have the car"

not just a Sentra A Sentra SER Spec V, it was a 6 speed with 175 hp and 180 torque...held up pretty good, i walked away unharmed.

your lucky no powerlines came down on you. i definately know that 14.7 KV pushing a unlimited amperage...would have killed you damn near instantly.

well i did break the powerlines, and that's why it scared the piss outta me. I hit the pole and sparks erupted like you wouldn't believe.

And actually that's neither on my spoiler, the picture was taken with a crappy 3.0 megapixel camera at 930 @ night, so the flash captured a bunch of crap that wasn't really there. My car before hand was almost flawless. I take very good care of my vehicles, cept when i crash them into things
