Uh... Broken Stuff I need help

Post by Money! »

So...

Music and computers...

I went one day to burn a CD for my car. I had my playlist ready. When I clicked burn (I use itunes) some unknown error came up. This weird file (its in notepad, and safe)

http://files.filefront.com//;6928823;;/

pops onto my desktop along with an unknown error (forgot the number :/). Now, I can't burn CDs anymore at all. When I put in a black disk, it either doesn't register, or, when it does, the burn never begins (even though it tries) and then gives up. My CD drives makes new, more painful sounding noises too.

Now: I pirate music. I have a PC. I don't know a thing about computers. Therefore, I probably have a lot of viruses. Anyway to reverse the burner problem? My CD Drive audibly sounds different now (like it's working harder) and also it can't seem to read certain games.

This is like physical damage done by something in my computer. Does anyone have any ideas on troubleshooting this problem?

Itunes+ pirating= doom I say.

If you are gonna pirate something, don't use one of the worst programs for anti-piracy around.

Time for Format c: and start over.

 @ Merlin

iTunes didn't do anything because you \"pirated music\". Something's FUBAR though, and it caused iTunes' burn engine to fail.

Dont know too much about Itunes, but maybe try uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling.

Try re-installing I-Tunes.

Try burning something with another program (ie: Nero, or CDBurnerXP) If that doesn't work, then I would pop in another burner if you have one, and see if it works. If the drive is acting up, then something may be mechanically wrong with the drive itself.

Yup - sounds like a failing drive to me.
