That was awesome, too bad they took the original link down. I'll host it again if I can find some space...

My wife and I spent a couple hours browsing the list of good April Fools jokes (like, really, really classic ones -- newspapers with \"local lake to be drained to find mayor's lucky golf ball\" stories, etc.) last night.

This morning, I find Core Decision has been leaked and Carmelo Anthony blew out his ACL in practice. Here, have a nice rainbow trout moving laterally across your face.

The best April Fools joke that I've ever known about was BBC's gag that spaghetti grew on trees!

LOTS of people fell for it!

Zappafan's D3 testers needed was also pretty good.

And the Jackie Chan \"Kung-fusion\" prank the year after.

Those were good times.

The jackie chan thing:

Zappafan came on the DBB in late march and said something along these lines:
my paraphrase of Zappafan wrote:Jackie Chan plays Descent!

I was watching one of those late-night public access cable shows, and the guy was doing an interview with Jackie Chan. They got to talking about video games, and he mentioned Descent. The interviewer was familiar with the game. He said his favorite weapon was plasma, and asked Jackie Chan what his favorite was.

He said "why, kung-fusion, of course!"

Did anyone else see that? I'm trying to find a copy of the show online.
So a bunch of people spent the next few days searching for this show where Jackie Chan talked about kung-fusion. April 1 came around, and Zappafan posted:
APRIL FOOLS!

I don't believe anything that is posted on April 1st in any forum. Specially things like this.

IIRC, we already knew D4(corrected version) had turned into a FPS because of the screenshots.

Last year I was going to set an announcement in the tech forum that we were changing the DBB to a pay only site, and you would have to pay a monthly fee or we would suspend and delete your account. Then send a copy of it to every forum on the DBB, but I figured given that the .net/.com split had just happened at the time, too many people wouldn't find it amusing.

And I was gone this year so I didn't have the chance. :P

The "testers needed" has to be one of the all-time great April Fool's pranks. That one roped EVERYBODY, even Jason @ Outrage fell for that one. He posted about falling for it. He read about it on the DBB but didn't follow the sign-up link of course. But he thought they were arranging some testing without his knowing about it and yelled at Craig what the hell is up with that!?!? I was pretty damn proud of that one. >:)

The Jackie Chan one was pretty satisfying, too, because I didn't that one would fool anybody, but it was kind of amazing how many people actually took that one seriously.

*sigh* Fun times, indeed!!
