So yea, I boot up the comp, the harddrive is fresh, trying to install XP. The bios sees it just fine on SATA 1, but when Windows starts up the setup, it says it doesn't see any drives.
I've had this problem before, and I always forget how I fix it. Is there som esort of driver i should get, and is it possible there's a mobo setting i could change to make it recognize.
note: windows setup doesnt' recognize a 160 GB samsung or a 250 GB Western Digital.
it's an MSI mobo,
If you don't have the floppy disks, you can always get the drivers online and slipstream them on to your XP install disk. Just find the correct drivers and you should be able to find the rest you need to get them on the XP disk on google.
You also could check if your BIOS has a \"SATA Mode\" setting. \"Standard IDE\" will get you going, sounds like your setting is AHCI or RAID. What's the MB brand/model ?
