need so,me help playing online with D1

whats the best way to do it? I tried giving some1 my IP but it said 'handshake timeout'. Maybe it's because i'm behind a router?

Any guides out there? Thanks.

If you try to play online with D1X or D1X-Rebirth you should open UDP 31017 on your router.

To play D2 online you currently should use D2X-XL - D2X-Rebirth supports online mode via UDP/IP in the next version.

You can also use KALI with all versions.

any idea how I can open UDP 31017? I'm in my router properties but I'm not seeing anything.

Also, are you saying D2X-Rebirth only supports online mode via UDP/IP 'in the nest version' meaning the version that's not out yet?

And i tried kali already, I'd prefer something free for now, at least until I get back into the game.

Look up the directions for your router on that site, it should be quite simple from there.

Also, how can I get multilayer in D2? There is no field to add in the hosts IP.

panther,

the easiest way to get into a D1/D2 multiplayer game is via D2X-XL's UDP via tracker facility.

Unless you are having a few good friends to arrange a game with, your greatest chances to find other ppl to play D1/D2 online is KALI (KALI servers -> Descent server).
