Frankenstein
So has anyone tuned in to Al Franken's air headed Air America radio show? Does anyone think this will be the monster program that tears down and kills the Dr. of Democracy Rush Limbaugh? I haven't, though I suppose I might listen if the proggy is on a website that can be listened to at any time. Anyway just curious if the libs here are hot for Franken.
I'd listen to it if it was broadcast around here.
And whats the problem with a Liberal talk show to counter the Conservative stuff thats already dominating daytime talk radio? All I can see from you is an irrational raging hatred of those who have a more left-wing view of things.
Rush Limbaugh is a big fat, drug addicted idiot anyway.

Tried to listen online but was too late. I say good luck to them. Diversity of opinion is always healthy for a democracy. That said, I don't think they're going to find the advertising base needed to sustain their vision. I'm sure donations will keep it floating long enough to find an audience but whether it's an audience that advertisers are trying to reach or a message they wish their products associated with is the big question. Case in point is Heinz recently putting out a press release saying no company profits were going to the Kerry campaign. For a company to do something that dramatic to distance itself from a liberal profile tells me big business is going to stay conservative with it's dollars. The liberal message tends toward the dour and pessimistic. Optimism and making people feel things are OK is what sells products, not pissing and moaning, and advertisers know that. Commercial radio is an ad-driven industry and there's no getting around that.
Personally, I've never considered either Franken or Garafallo (sp?) very entertaining when they did general comedy so I doubt telling the same Bush bashing jokes every morning is going to cut it.

i'm not gonna listen.
at many points in my life i have been intensely interested in politics, developing from idealist to moderate liberal to reactionary to 3rd party along the way...
i'm just sick of it. the never ending name calling, sound biting, and whining back and forth is simply a waste of my time and a waste of my happiness as a human being.
i can read from multiple sources... i don't need to be a libbo or a ditto-head... i can make up my own mind.
sadly, so many are moved by radio jockies they forget they can develop their own view... it's like they are a singer who can't write their own song.

NPR radio
MSNBC
BBC
ABC
CBS
Nope, no liberal outlets here. It's not a question of liberal radio but rather no liberal talk show host that can entertain and keep a audience...no, correct that..can BUILD an audience. Lotsa luck Franky
Actually no raging hatred here...save that rhetoric for the Bush hate mongersAll I can see from you is an irrational raging hatred of those who have a more left-wing view of things.

I see you are parroting biggy Al. Thats the trouble with the liberal mindset. All they can do is echo slogans and not come out with anything substantive.
BTW Rush is no longer "fat"... only out of touch lefties still spout that.

I saw part of an interview with the guy that is starting this new network. I can't remember his name right now. Anyway, he said that in his opinion NPR is not a liberal outlet. I thought that was a curious statement.
I listen to NPR almost exclusively, and I recognize that they lean to the left. It sounds like this new network is about to make NPR centrist
Nobody wants to listen to what these liberals have to say, its all the same shiz every day and its boring, just like Limbaugh. Who here honestly listens to political radio? That shiz is terrible.
Heh, and ironically enough that is the typical conservative mindset: always making generalizations and stereotypes about those who aren't conservativeThats the trouble with the liberal mindset. All they can do is echo slogans and not come out with anything substantive.
