Coincidentally I was just trying to run D3 on WINE today - with pathetic results, but that's just because that computer's got a 4 MB graphics card and a 700 MHz processor on top of WINE's lag. What are your system specs, and have you tried using the OpenGL driver instead of DirectX? It improved the speed a lot for me, but I did lose some reliability.

The people who made the Linux version (Loki) went belly-up. Last I heard Suncho was working on posting the necessary files on descent3.com, since he works for THQ and Loki re-assigned the copyrights to Outrage upon death.

I have ubuntu linux with about 8MB of video ram. Yes, i have tried the open gl. Its just when i run it, it is extremely choppy and slow where to the point i cannot run it. I think it is a driver issue. Im not sure.

You know, you could actually use the search feature and read the dozens of repetitive threads that have been posted again, and again, and again on this very topic.

It seems to actually be working at the moment. Though it doesn't return that many results. I wonder how long it will last.

@Nergen:
Yeah, unfortunately that's just not enough processor or graphics card power to run it through WINE. If we ever do get the Linux version files, that would be a different story, though. You still won't get great performance, I'm guessing, but probably something tolerable.

I look at the video RAM and shake my head, to be honest. Even back when D3 was new that would have given you lousy framerates... running it under emulation is probably going to be horrible.

Have you ever played someone in D3 running linux..... for servers it's buggy but tolerable, yet as an opponent it's downright hilarious. ROFLZ

They move like a slide show, packet bursting and warping all over. 7pps + 20fps = NixSkillz! YEAH!
