DVD drive not burning...
DVD drive not burning...
Reads ANYTHING fine. I've tried literally 10 different manufactures for cds/DVD.s Comes up as \"insert blank media\" Even though I have the CD in there. I just read something to try autoplay fix from microsoft. Apparently it worked for some guy... I will try tonight to put the drive into another computer and see if its a conflict on my pc with windows... If anyone has any other idea's let me know.

Re:

It was only a suggestion to see if it did work. This way he could tell if it was a bad cable.Krom wrote:Not to mention I have seen a DVD drive or two slaved to the HDD and the results were quite pathetic... While it was able to burn a disk, it only took over 90 minutes to burn a disk at "16x" write speed. Mixing ATAPI and ATA drives on the same cable is generally a bad idea.

True, and the cable theory is always one of the first that should be checked.CDN_Merlin wrote:. . .

I got 2 IDE HDD,s and that SATA DVDR drive. I will be switching to one single SATA eventually... but for now I gotta deal with my old IDE's. I'll try the cable tonight. SATA IS enabled Merlin. I've checked through Bios thouroughly to make sure nothing was enabled or disabled preventing it from working.

Yeah I've been afraid of that... Pioneer will replace it for me... But I'll be DVDless until I get it back... Im gonna format sometime soon anyway... AKA all that cool stuff you've given me in the past few years is gonna have to get sent to me again seeing I can't backup Hope you got some extra time buddy
Yeah but I gotta do it anyway...tons of ★■◆● I just really don't need or want anymore...(copy of windows I installed over to try and fix this a few months ago... I think I got a cd burner and a shitload of Cdrs.... Add Winrar and I could be ok... That is of course hoping that I can burn with the CDR drive... Either way if one of you let me upload to an ftp for a few hours I could just throw what I need on there then steal it back after I install... That way I won't be bothering you for months on end

Or you could use an eSATA port to connect some spare HDDs and backup stuff to them. I even use my eSATA port to connect old IDE drives using a SATA to PATA bridge and a drive power adapter from a USB to IDE kit (I don't use the USB to IDE bridge when the eSATA is available for obvious reasons).
