In court, the man argued that the federal government only made it policy to provide marijuana to those who need it, but never made it an actual law. Because of that, he argued, all possession laws, whether medicinal or not, should be quashed.
yeah i remember now, iirc lots of ppl on usenet were talking about this some time ago (maybe over a year?)
iirc the gist of it was that there was a medicinal-use clause in the canadian cannabis prohabition laws that said somethign along the lines of \"the government must provide some way to access medicinal cannabis, if this does not happen within X amount of years - the whole cannabis prohibition law becomes NULL\".
And since the government didn't do anything - tada!
Cannabis is now legal.
Something like that.
I'm glad to see some action comming outof it - i thought it'd just be swept under the rug. I had all but dismissed it as some conspiracy theorising hehe, (i had one friend there who swore the government had secretly implanted a tracking chip in his back, lol fun times in fringe society)
