Battlefield 2142 and Inspiron 1720 (59Hz Defect)

I have not had BF2142 work ever since I got my laptop and I finally found both the problem and the solution. The problem is that my refresh rate on my LCD is locked at 59Hz (can't do the needed 60Hz for BF2142). No BF2142 video.con file modification works and there is no way to get another refresh rate. Therefore I talked to Dell and after an hour of debate (they are idiots) they agreed with me that 59Hz only LCD monitors on laptops are defects. Therefore, if you are looking to buy a notebook, make sure you get a 60Hz option on your monitor or your games will suffer.

Just for sh*ts and giggles:

On your display properties/settings tab/advanced/monitor tab Did you uncheck the \"hide modes\" checkbox and try a 60 hz option?

Also did you try a 60 hz option on the \"adapter\" tab where it says \"list all modes\"?

If it doesn't work don't press any keys and it should automatically reset to the last working option.

the issue here is that BF games always needs a 60hz refresh in order to start, then it'll switch to what ever refresh rate you want.
