Vista startup

Post by thewolfe »

My neighbor's girlfriend just bought a new HP desktop with Vista.

She has Verizon DSL.

Should she be able to just hookup her new computer thru her router as before, click on the Internet Explorer and get on or do you have to do something different wit Vista?

Might have to setup IP etc, unless its assigned by DHCP.

Also if it doesn't work, re-run the CD that came with her Verizon package (To KISS).

Accessing the network connections folder in Vista takes a couple more steps, but once you are there it is the same as it was in XP. And if her PC was grabbing DHCP off the router it should just work as soon as you plug it in.

That's what I thought.

OK, I'll try \"ipconfig\" release...renew also.

Been thinking about getting a Vista machine just so I can help the Vista users but can't make myself do it yet. Hoping for a miracle with SP1.

Thanks

Dont leave out the option to reboot your connection if things dont \"plug and go\" like its supposed to.
