Check it out, it'll begin early this evening for those on the East Coast.
Of course, if you're where I'm at, you'd be lucky to see something through spotted holes of the clouds... friggin' weather. I'm thinkin' of driving up to KY to see the eclipse... best chance I've got.
Enjoy the view! It'll be the last lunar eclipse until Dec. 2010!

Lunar eclipses aren't too rare, there was one just earlier this year.
There was an annular solar eclipse as well, but the best place to view it was Antarctica.

I'm hoping it's a clear night to take some pics of it.

Yah I know Lunar Eclipses aren't rare... but the event of these things happening are rather on an occasional basis and only if you got clear skies to view 'em.
I just love eclipses. There have not once been a time when an eclipse occurred during a clear night here... I think. One of my earlist memories was a lunar eclipse and I remember the sky being clear and bright when it occured.

This is the last total lunar eclipse until December 2010. I think total ones are rarer than partials? Anyway I'm tuning in with my binocs.

DK woke me up to show me that the sky has cleared up enough to reveal a beautiful picture of the reddened moon between Saturn and another star. It was amazing.

I've been checking with my binoculars (really do have a pair
) over the last hour and half. FANTASTIC! This seems more beautiful than any I've seen before. Wish I had a good camera.

Clear skies tonight! We got a beautiful view, and we could just barely make out Saturn nearby, rings and all, with a 60x scope.
EDIT: I took pics through the scope; I'll post a few if they turn out sharp enough.

nice pics Gren. I got a couple with my digicam, but without a tripod I couldn't keep it steady enough for the long exposure.
