I think woodchip's point is valid. While the people I bully online may think I'm hidden behind a barrier of anonymity, if I where to post some crazy rant about how I was going to blow something up, I'm sure the feds wouldn't have too much trouble figuring out what door to come knocking on.

This bill would accomplish 2 things:

It would strip away the illusion we have that we're really doing thing anonymously on the internet.

And

It would empower identity thieves, spammers, hackers, phishers, etc. to more easily attack us.

It's a terrible idea.

I have always been bugged with the idea of online anonymity…people sitting behind their keyboards like a big shot, saying things they would never say to my face…but what the hell…that’s the fact of life when your online, and a stupid bill like that would only make things worse.

1.) Liberal is someone who believes freedom and rights over anything. This is not synomymous with Democrat, just like Republicans are not always conservative, such as paying into stuff (besides the Iraq War) and not being a fiscal conservative.
