PHPBB Problem...

So, I go to my forums today and get this:

phpBB : Critical Error

Could not connect to the database

Can someone tell me how to troubleshoot this?

I'm sure you can get better help then me, but this is what I would do.
Make sure the data base is working, go into your serverAdmin prog. and run PhpMyAdmin and check everything out. If PhpMyAdmin doesn't work call your host and ask if the're having trouble or fill out a trouble ticket.

If the database is ok, check that the information in /phpBB/config.php is correct. other then that I'm pretty much clueless

Check that the database is still operational and that the username and password in config.php is correct.

If the database is on a different computer than the php files, make sure you are using the right ip address

Thanks guys. It was a problem with the hosting company. The database servers were down.
