is it possible to run a 24 pin mobo connector on only a 20 pin connector?

the emachine in reference to my vista password topic has a 24 pin mobo, but only a 20 pin connector plugged in. can i do this for any mobo?

Your answer should have been: No.

There are adapters that can do it, but I would discourage their use.

according to every site ive visited, and the Emachines box that im working on right now, it can be done, it will just disable the PCI-E video card slot
