PC recovery cd's for Compaq V3000 laptop

Post by thewolfe »

I have a friend's laptop and they would like to make recovery disks for it.

It says it will need 15 cd's.

Is there anyway to use my network to store the info on my harddrive instead of using 15 cd's?

Not likely, unless you can get into the factory restore partition and copy it over. Probably not wise though.

Can you ghost the machine? Use DVD's?

I could except......I don't have a DVD burner.

take control of the parition and give yourself full control and copy it with a DVD or two or a DL DVD. its not wise but it can be done if you are very careful of what your doing. ive done it several times now for HP's with recovery partitions as a emergency backup

Get an external USB2.0 DVD burner or get a internal laptop DVD burner for it. Either option is less expensive than the time cost it would require to burn and then reload from 15 CDRs.

a USB hard drive is a better solution.
