See, everyone is making record PROFITS.By The Associated Press
PARIS - French oil giant Total SA says its first-quarter net profit jumped 18 per cent amid record-high energy prices.
The world's fourth-largest oil and gas company says that its net profit rose to $5.6 billion in the first quarter from $4.7 billion a year earlier. Chief Executive Christophe de Margerie noted \"new record highs\" in oil prices, saying average Brent crude prices in the first quarter of 2008 were 67 per cent higher than a year ago, and nine per cent higher than the previous quarter.
Oil prices on Tuesday hit a record $122.73 a barrel on worries about supply disruptions.
Talk about being rich.

The more SUV's 300's, Chargers we have to fill up daily the more gas prices will rise.BUBBALOU wrote:or better yet start a large vehicular tax on companies and users who sell and use
If you are filling up your gas tank more than once ever other week, Use Public Transportation.
These folks are filling up every or every other day.
DEMAND = Cracking of more diesel to produce reg gas for lil gas guzzling 4-wheelers(a car) = rise in price of everything that is hauled by big trucks(rigs)
watch the price of diesel carefully - this is the pre-indicator of unleaded-gas demand
I seem to have a better workout dodging your stupidity than attempting to grasp the weight of your intelligence.

Just to clarify, I don't work from home. That was a Joke - but I will say this...
I have a 2000 Dodge Dakota. It has a 4.7L V8 engine that makes about 230+ HP and around 300lb of Torque.
It has about a 350 mile range on it on a full tank, which is around 20 - 22 gallons.
My commute is about 50 - 60 miles round trip, so even though it only makes around 17 MPG, I only fill up once a week and cost me about $55 - $60 each time.
HOWEVER - if I \"hot rod\" it, or if im driving with a lead foot, and trying to pass everyone on the road, I will only get about a 300 mile range out of it.
Those 300's, and Chargers, get a better MPG rating than my truck - and considering the next gen Hemi, coming out this year has More HP, more Torque, and more MPG's, it will only get better.
But one of the major issues is the WAY people drive. Some people can't help it when you live in a big city during rush-hour. Much of the gas is spent at idle in bumper to bumper traffic. But when you do have open road, driving modestly can save you money.
I see people on the time in Big SUVs or Sports Cars jumping on the Gas and hearing their engines whine. They think its cool but its a Huge waste of money.
I guess some people don't realize that those MPG Ratings are not calcuated that way. Most are ran at 55mph, and I don't know anyone who drives that speed on the Highway.
They Jump on the gas to give you the 0-60 times, but they just about \"flintstone\" it when giving you MPG ratings.
If I jump on the Gas all the time in my truck, I will barely get 300 miles out of a full tank.
I can save... id say, $30 a month simply by changing the way I drive, and not flooring it everywhere.
