Computer took away my admin privs
Sony Vaio VGC-LS25E All-In-One
Windows Vista Home Premium
Intel Core Duo T5600 (1.83GHz, 2MB L2 cache, 667 FSB)
2GB (1GBx2)DDR2-667 SDRAM (max 2GB)
250GB SATA (7200rpm)
DVD±RW/±R DL/RAM
Nvidia GeForce Go 7400 GPU
Wireless
Purchased 4/2007. Always problems. Worse lately.
Used ccleaner on disc and registry. Things went BAD!
Did system restore. Things getting worse. Did another SR.
This A.M. could not access internet with Firefox. Could with IE7. LOOKING bad.
Tried moving or copying to ex HD. No go.
Can not install, uninstall, use email, run system restore, s/u in safe mode,
Called tech Buddy. Had me cmd prmt for administrative privileges. No good. CMD prmt, privileges off.
Now my account not recognized as it was this morning.
About the only thing I can do is use Internet Explorer which I detested, Until today
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
At this point I would be happy to just be able to move my data to the external and delete from this HD so I can send it for repair
Thanks

Hidden in Vista - Admin rights Via the Command Prompt
Your Tech Geek friend needs to learn Vista
How to launch an elevated command prompt in VISTA:
press the Win key;
type cmd; (in run box)
press Ctrl+Shift+Enter;
then hit Alt+C to confirm the elevation prompt
Six keystrokes to an elevated command prompt!

I seem to have a better workout dodging your stupidity than attempting to grasp the weight of your intelligence.

Yikes!!
Since I posted last night, I have not been able to access the internet.
I can do nothing. Copy, delete. I will give the administrator cmd a go!
Now it's saying I have 2 days to activate windows!! I put in the key and I get an error code.
Froze up last night so unplugged it. On startup it came to the screen so I was able to start in safe mode and was able to get some files moved.
Junk! Junk! Vista sucks!!!
I've been telling them I want xp, that shouldn't be stuck with this crap.
thanks for the advice.

Re: Computer took away my admin privs
I'd be willing to bet this was your problem:

In the future, I'd be very wary of things that mess with your system registry like that, even if they claim to be harmless or helpful.CCleaner site wrote:[29th May 2008]
