Space Weather, GPS and the Ionosphere

Post by akula65 »

I have seen several interesting online articles and resources relating to geophysics and solar physics over the last few months. Here are a few of them:

http://www.electricalfun.com/ElectronCa ... iction.htm

This article provides general information on how space weather events impact those of us on earth.

http://www.agu.org/journals/sw/swa/free ... 08SW000400

This article describes how GPS receivers are being used to gain a more comprehensive view of ionospheric events and structure.

I haven't had a chance to play with this, but it shows how the information gathered in the previous article can be seen and used by the public. This is your tax dollars at work, so enjoy and use it. It is amazing to me how much has been learned over the last thirty years in this field.
