ogl vs d3d

I cant seem to get ogl working with my 8800gt.
I've tried turning down the settings in the nvidia panel, but I still get crashes, and wierd color displays when I die/respawn.
d3d doesnt give me any headaches...

is there really much of a difference between ogl and d3d? if so, what are they?

OpenGL is generally best performance-wise, but has a few bugs (like the multiplayer 'white-box'). Otherwise, there isn't much difference.

What version of the NVidia drivers are you using?
