An interesting quiz posed by Pew:

What's your score?

Here's Your Score: You correctly answered 10 out of the 12 possible questions, which means you did better on the quiz than 83% of the general public.

Use the interactive tool below to find out more about how your score compares with other Americans who took the test in our national telephone survey:
I got these two wrong:
9. Do you happen to know if the Dow Jones Industrial Average is currently closer to.
In my defense, I don't pay alot of attention to stocks, other than what I have actually invested in (Interplay). I do know the DOW is plummeting, however.

12. Which of the following recently declared its independence from Serbia?
I chose Chechnya, because I didn't know the answer, but I narrowed it down from either that or Kosovo.

Okay, lets see what ones I did get right:

* Followers of the two major branches of Islam are seeking political control in Iraq. One branch is the Shi'a, whose members are known as Shiites. Can you name the other one?

* Since the start of military action in Iraq, about how many U.S. military personnel have been killed?

* Do you happen to know which political party has a majority in the U.S. House of Representatives?

* Do you happen to know what state U.S. Senator John McCain represents in Congress?

The last one was a guess.
Of course, I'm not sure why I did the quiz anyway, I'm not American.

Missed the last question about Kosovo. Otherwise, this wasn't any harder then the 8th grade current events tests my history teacher made us take.

With a score of 7 of 12 I'm not going to impress many people. I got all the international questions but U.S. political leaders were a mystery to me.

That's okay. Aside from the current president, I'd have a hard time naming anyone in Canadian politics. You get a pass.

Way too easy, for someone that watches the world news every night.

I had 9/12.

Missed the Dow question (it had been below 11K about a month ago), the Kosovo question, and Hugo Chavez (which I knew, just couldn't call it to mind.)

What really amazes me is that, right now, the majority Senate leader question is at under 25% -- people do worse than simple guessing on that question!

For the record, I don't watch television at all, though I do read cnn.com and lots of blogs.

Missed 2, though it should have been 3 because I guessed on the Dow score, I don't keep track of stocks much.

I dont read up on international news much so I missed the Kosovo question.

And the Iraq War count I didn't keep track of.

Thanks for the generosity M-B. Since we have Prime Ministers here in Canada not Presidents that makes your point more valid.

Missed 4, 5, 8, and 12. I almost chose Kosovo, and I knew McCain was from somewhere over there.
