Having trouble with updating AVG free

Post by Nergen-Ak1-Defender »

For some reason, AVG will not update anything at this point. I've changed firewalls, program permissions and nothing has worked so far? What kind of problem could this be? Server issues?

I know, as far as the programs I use, they wont update if they are an older version then the current one.

IE: you may need an upgrade before you can update.

(Yes they are different)

From everything I've found V8 is only free for 30 days. ..or did I just miss something?

I have version 8. It is still not downloading the updates.

I have some screenshots to help explain the problem:

Unless they canceled the free deal. Then that would suck.

Grisoft hasn't cancelled the free deal.

The AVG update sight was having some \"technical difficulty\" today. Should be all better by now. Try telling it to update again.

Odd. It says its downloading at 0 bytes a second. Is there anything i would have to check at all. All program permissions are open for avg.

EDIT: it downloaded the update but, it is still downloading at 15 kilobytes and second. The rest of the connected programs are fine. :?

IMHO a \"competitor\" may be launching DOS attacks against Grisoft resulting in their update sites being either slow or nearly unavailable. ... Or perhaps they're just having trouble with their site.

The same thing happened about two weeks ago. If everything happens like the last time, they will soon be back to normal.

My AVG installs had a hard time updating today as well ... but they've all updated successfully now.

Grisoft's fault for not randomizing the Time of Day for their updates...

They're pretty clever with their marketing. From what I've found you can't get to their actual free version from their main site. You have to go to their "free" site to get it.
