Black screen on iMac in Boot Camp

Post by zaanan »

Hello, I am able to play Descent 3 in XP using Boot Camp on my 3.06ghz iMac (nVidia 8800 GS). It starts up and plays just fine, but when I have to change screens (go to the map or back to the main menu), the screen goes black but I still hear the music, etc. The only thing I can do at this point is press Q, then enter to quit. I assumed it was the display drivers from Apple, but I downloaded the newest drivers from nVidia and there was no change. I am using OpenGL. Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

try using direct3d, and or setting your desktop to 16-bit.

Thanks for the reply, flip! The Direct3D setting solved that problem; however, it introduced some serious lags in the framerate. I did find a workaround so that I could use OpenGL: when I get the black screen, I alt-tab to another application, then alt-tab back and I can see the screen just fine. Annoying, but at least I can get smooth framerates that way.
Thanks!
