I'd rather the conservatives only vote.
A lot of stories have come out about the in fighting. Whatever. My personal take, she was mishandled by the McCain camp, she new it...but then she reacted poorly to her mishandling.
So,
Do you hope she runs in 2012? And, is she the direction you want to see your party go?

If you had that, I'd have clicked it.

I clicked yes but it's because I want her to run and take the hard core right wing with her into a new party so the rational adults can get some work done.
I like her and her instincts so far but I believe she's about to become a symbol for the people I don't respect and can't follow. I'm afraid she'll get caught up in their BS and become a caricature of herself.
Take a look at the replay of McCains concession speech at the part when he mentions she'll go on to become a new force in the party etc. Look at the way her husband looks at her and she looks back at that point....

I voted yes because I would like to see how she handles herself without being the attack dog a vp during elections is supposed to be. I'd like to see her plan of action and how the people react to her as a presidential hopeful.
Unlike Will, I would see Palin as a force for a more robust conservative movement within the republican party. As it stands now the republican party has lost its message and has zilch for leadership. As much as I despise the democratic leadership, one thing I give them credit for is reigning their senators and congressmen in to toe the party line.
How well Palin might do in a bid for the presidency depends on how bad Obama and friends screw up in the next four years. We'll see and I'm sure we will have many more interesting conversations here.

Im hoping that you go with Jindal..
This is a right of center nation, but you haven't had anyone who can articulate conservatism in awhile. Hell most of you do a better job. He can.
The republican party has become too opponent focused, without getting into specifics, Sarah Palin is exactly the wrong direction that I want to see you guys go.

I think that's right. The thought occurred to me that that might be because the Republicans haven't had a good conservative champion in the first place (that would go a long way to explain my incredulity at the Republican ticket's inability to effectively combat the Democrat's radical socialist agendas for what they are). A case needs to be made for conservatism in this nation--for historical ideals that have not been outdated, only lost through lack of education. Young people like Bettina have no appreciation for what this nation ought to stand for, when they suppose among other things that liberty is only a privilege. Even I haven't always fully grasped it, and I have a pretty conservative upbringing.Gooberman wrote:The republican party has become too opponent focused, without getting into specifics
Really I think that the fight needs to be taken beyond the political arena to the arena of public education, because that is the battleground that has given the Left their victories, I'm convinced. Take away a people's grasp of history, and they lose an important basis for judgment. Lack of information or misinformation is always the first requirement in perpetrating a deception, and this country has just been sold the deception that socialism is good for a free people--that government regulation is the key to a better life. I'm not a historian, but I have enough of a grasp of history to know that's just not the case. I don't care how positive some aspects of "Change" look, at it's core it's a big step in a much less free direction.
In my opinion, with regard to constitutional rights and true founding ideals, the Republican party is an abysmal failure--I can only assume that they don't make the arguments because they don't know the arguments, either that or they're lost in compromise (maybe both).
