Zoom in & out in Vista. How to get back to default?

Post by thewolfe »

I've learned that using the Control key and the wheel on the mouse you can zoom in and out almost everywhere in Vista including the desktop.

Also in the pictures folder you can change views as well as zoom.

But how do I get back to the original default setting.

You would ask when I am back on XP...

Does control + 0 work? (Worth a try since its the default shortcut for resetting zoom in firefox/IE.)

Nope.

I wanted to send this tip out to my Vista friends but not until I get the default. Otherwise the calls would be coming in.

I use XP so I don't know what the command is, but I'm sure it's gotta be in a help file somewhere- I'd try Start->Help and search for zoom?

If I had to guess, I'd try just rolling the mouse wheel till you're zoomed all the way out- that's how you do it with Compiz Fusion in Ubuntu :)

Right click the desktop, View, then Medium Icons

Exactly. It's not really a \"zoom\", it's just a shortcut to resizing icons in Explorer-based windows (which includes the desktop).

So just set them back to medium, which is the default. Unfortunately, there's no way to restore their locations, from what I can tell.

F5 after resize

F5 doesn’t work on my Vista box. (not to restore default zoom, anyway)

It’s listed as “Refresh active window”
