MS SideWinder game pad

My father make usb cable to the old MS Sidewinder gamepad. The cable is working and gamepad lights up but can you tell how I get it installed to the windows?
I hope you uderstand my english.

It should show up in Control Panel --> Game Controllers

I know but windows says \"Your Gameport or Gameport drivers are not properly configured. Please consult the Device Manager.\"

Vista ? MS removed gameport support from Vista..

I'm using XP but I think there should be some electronic (or what ever you cal it) because the gamepad is analogic (or something)I'm not very good in english you can see.
