The third one on your first post reminds me of a Sidearm Mk2, or something like that.

Good luck on getting Bryce's procedural textures to do what you want. I used it for a few years and still have to wrestle with it.

Bryce is much nicer to work with when you can build and texture models elsewhere, and just use it to make the scene. The other thing I really love about Bryce is its glass textures. Nothing else does them so beautifully without a lot of effort.

I have the book for Bryce 4, it is pretty big.

It's tiny compared to Maya though. Thankfully they don't sell that with a printed manual anymore either.
