Geithner Touts Tackling Tax Evaders After Failing to Pay Own Taxes
Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told the House Ways and Means Committee Tuesday that the Obama administration, which has been riddled with tax problems, is mounting plans to go after tax evaders.

I guess they should have a pretty good idea where to start! The upper echelons of the democratic party.

OK wiseguys. Do any of you do your own taxes, BY HAND? I've slogged through them with my husband and it's a convoluted mess to figure out and even get the same result twice in a row! Both political parties are guilty of over complicating taxes for the benefit of the wealthy. Don't just blame the DNC here!

Anyone else have a lame, half-baked excuse for the tax cheats? ;)

UHM YA as matter of fact I do. or did that is until I got wise and spent $34.00 on tax cut. dont be an appologist for the government people that DONT PAY THEIR TAXES. you can be DAMN sure that they can afford a tax expert more than you or I ever could.
as far as making them complicated. ya both parties are Guilty. but 4 of Obama's Cabinet picks have tax issues?!?!?!? Cmon don't excuse them for violating the Law, because they sure as H3LL wouldnt exuse you for making the same "mistake"

I'm not apologizing for the government. I was just pointing out how complex the tax structure is and how it's prone to filing errors the way it's set up. I dare you to call the IRS and ask a question and get the same answer twice! I remember years ago our own Oregon Senator Bob Packwood publicly flubbing a tax question and he was on the Senate Finance Committee overseeing tax law at the time!

Geithner may or may not be guilty of tax evasion, although knowing Washington insiders, I'm leaning toward the 'he did it on purpose' model. The slimebag quotient is high here.

The Dems aren't the only crooks in town. They just happen to be in power at the moment. I seem to recall the Bush-appointed SEC turning a blind eye (wink, wink) to Mr. Madoff and his theft of $50 billion from investors and charities. I don't see his butt in jail yet!

It’s always about the Republicans…my mother used to tell me “I don’t care what your friends are doing”.

Moral to the story…you can’t justify someones actions by blaming someone else for doing the same thing.

The Republicans have been rendered irrelevant by the last election, so get over it tc…

It's never good to wake up in the shrubs naked, you either got way too drunk, or your azz is a werewolf.

Yes and never forgot to pay $34,000 in taxes like your boy did...and then he only paid half of it because he was audited and didn't pay the other half until he was named to Obama's cabinet and told he better go ahead and pay that too! So quit trying to blame the complexity of the tax code! How pathetically lame can you get?!?

I don't. I blame Obama exclusively for giving us more of the exact thing he campaigned on getting rid of! And not just this one guy but just about every thing he promised he would change he instead has simply brought in his own version of the same damn thing!

Like I said with complete contempt in my heart and with as much mockery as my keyboard will type: "Change we can believe in"...Heh!

My agree-ness goes to the Republicanos, blaming the complexity of the tax system is just pandering to your lubbed party. They tried to avoid paying their taxes, or they are so dull-brained that they don't deserve the spot at all.
