Dual monitors?

I was thinking about using dual monitors and wanted to know whether I could use either of the other two connections besides the blue one that I now use for my monitor.

I attached a pic of the what my card looks like. http://www.dougsstuff.com/Nvidia 8300 graphic card.doc

I have the above graphics card which I had Dell add and I also have the original on-board VGA connection and from what I understand Dell disables the onboard when they added the nVidia.

Can I use any of the other connections on my card for a second monitor?

If not for another monitor, what could I use the other connections for?

The simple answer is….yes, the other ports on that card are DVI & S-Video.

At least they are on the 8300 GS…I didn’t download that doc file.

Do I just need an adapter to switch the monitor vga connection over to one of the connectors on my graphics card.

If so, is when better to use?

I assume the monitor you are using now is on the VGA port, So if you need to buy a 2nd monitor just buy one with a DVI input, if you are going to use an older model monitor with a VGA input, then yes you will need a VGA to DVI adapter.

And make sure that DVI port on the card is DVI I (analog & digital)

How do I add a pic to my post so you don't have to worry about downloading something \"evil\"?

How could I ck the analog/digital on the one I have. Does it have to support both?

To add an image to your post…just use the “img” tag, you need a host for the image.

And yes the DVI port must support analog to drive a VGA monitor (you are on your own finding that out, sorry) It should say in the tech specs.

You can upload images using this, and you don't need to add the tags.
It will do that automatically when the image is finished uploading.

thewolfe: I have combined and then removed the excess repeat posts of yours. Next time you need to add something more to a thread when nobody else has replied to it yet, just use the edit post function instead of replying again, thanks.
