Running Linksys WRT54G in bridge mode?

Hey, what is the best recommended 3rd party firmware for a Linksys WRT54G that will allow me to run the router in bridge mode?

Tomato Firmware Is the best route for Linksys routers.

Bear in mind though that those 3rd party firmwares mostly only work on WRT54s that shipped with Linux from the factory. Only the first 4 revisions of the original WRT54G run Linux, the rest run VxWorks. You need to have a WRT54GL to be sure it's running Linux now.

Hmmm... I know that a WGA54G runs in bridge mode with the flick of a switch so that may be a good way to go if I need to buy another router. I don't have a WRT54GL.

My version is version 8 I believe.

if you have one of those modem/router combos from an ISP, you want to set that to bridge mode, not the router you want to use.

that being said you can install dd-wrt on a v8 wrt54g.

Yeah, it is possible to get teh Linux firmwares on to the later WRT54Gs but it's harder and you don't get all the features (afaik) because Linksys cut the VxWorks ones down so they were cheaper to produce or something (afaik).
