Change default e-mail client in IE

Post by thewolfe »

I would like to change from Hotmail to Yahoo as the default e-mail client.

In IE/Tools/Int Options/Programs it only gives me a choice of Hotmail or Outlook.

In Firefox I can change it in Tools/Options?Applications in \"Mail To\" but that won't change the default in the program I'm using.

The program is Bumptop http://bumptop.com/ and it has an envelope icon you can drag a file onto to attach it, but it only opens in Hotmail or Outlook.

Open your Yahoo client, look through the tools and see if there is an option to set it as the default E-Mail client.

Sorry but that’s all I have, I’m one of those ass backwards people who only use IE & Outlook Express.

And, I guess you could try file associations, in Control Panel. (assign that program to open with Yahoo)

For email there are two ways to do it. You can use webmail (doing your email in a browser) or with a client, such as Outlook or Thunderbird.

I used Thunderbird as an email client at my first job. It is not bloated, yet very reliable and though it does not have a calendar, I have liked it as I do all Mozilla products. :D

If you have an email client from Yahoo, it should have an option to make it your default email program. If not, I'm not sure how to do that. You can use an alternative program such as Thunderbird if you want.
