Change folder to look alike in Win Explorer in Vista

Post by thewolfe »

Is there a way to change the order of \"Name, Size, Date.. in the Detail view and have it hold the settings and apply the customization to all folder.

I can change them around by dragging them or using the right-click option but it won't apply to the rest of the folders or hold the changes if I close the folder down and open it again.

Set the root folder the way you want it, then go to folder options / view and hit the \"Apply to All Folders\" button.

Just be aware that Vista is a pain and likes to frequently reset folders to whatever often wrong meta type it wants to without asking you. So there really is no way to set folders the way you want and have it stick.

Pc Mag did an article on this recently called \"Make Vista Great\". There is a way to Cure Vista Explorer's Amnesia. If you would like to try it you can find the piece here.
