Vizio 42\" HDTV 1080p w/ Digital Tuner 60 vs 120 HZ
is it worth the extra $200 to get the 120HZ model?
im about to upgrade my entertainment center after a freak accident that left my 30\" CRT dead and DVD dead aswell. im getting a new center, TV and DVD Player.
this one is the 120 HZ model: http://www.walmart.com/catalog/product. ... d=10576665
and this one: http://www.walmart.com/Vizio-42-1080p-L ... ip/8477431
is the 60hz, is there any real visual difference? im considering getting a XBox 360 Elite aswell

a very old and very flimsy particle wood entertainment center

Yep. Sounds like the one I got, happy w/ it Don't have it hooked to any TV input tho, no idea how well the tuner works.AceCombat wrote:is it worth the extra $200 to get the 120HZ model

thats what i was wanting to know, thanx neo
well right now, i stream my TV with a TV Card on my PC. so im not even going to hook it up to the TV. just XBox 360, DVD, and possibly the PC for gamesGrendel wrote:Yep. I suppose beauty is in the eye of the beholder. They had a Toshiba at sears next to a Vizio, Toshiba looked better.Zantor wrote:I would rather get a Samsung. Whenever I look at a Vizio next to a Samsung, the Samsung has a better picture.
But then i noticed that the Toshiba was directly connected to a BluRay player. The signal was not split 20 different times.
I asked they plug the Vizio up directly - and Man - it improved the picture SOO much better. The TV didn't look the same when you had the signal split to other TV's. It was a tad better than the Toshiba, and the Samsung they had on the other end of the room. But I suppose its all up to what you like best.

JM, TV in the US is 29.97 FPS to begin with (film is 24 FPS). 120 Hz TVs always display 120 Hz, but they interpolate the missing frames. So no, the source does not need to be 120 Hz for the monitor to still spew 120 frames/sec. But it should be able to support a true 120 Hz input from a PC or any other source that can do it.

sadly the HD Upscaling DVD player is a Samsung. ohwellBurlyman wrote:I'm glad Ace didn't get a Samsung. My MP3 player from Samsung went nuts after only 1 year. And my friend went through 2 of its MP3 players in like 1 month because they wouldn't work properly. Not to mention that they make crap RAM. x_x
