(Solved)talking in bulk

Post by Octopus »

So I've decided to switch to a low end cell phone company, that offers unlimited this and that for about 25 dollars a month. I gave my current provider (sprint) a call and asked, if I paid for 2 years worth of service (about $2,400USD) could I get a discount?
\"POSSIBLY!!!\" :o
I currently have a 25% discount on my voice plan. Because of this, the sprint financial department wouldn't go further with me into what kind of discount i could get. This discount needs to be removed first. I want to shoot for a full 25%-50% discount on all services. So if I paid for 2 years, I should get 1 to 2 years for free!
Your thoughts?

edit:
The cs rep I spoke with said paying in advance would be good for the company if everyone did it. This type of behavior should be rewarded with a good discount. But he's never ran into this question before and had no information on what to do. That's when the financial department was brought in.

So they want to remove your discount FIRST, then MAYBE they'll give you a better deal? Bwaaaaaahaaaaaaaa! Fat chance! You'd probably have to pull toenails just to get your original discount back.

It's a poker game, I'll admit.

Who has more to lose if you call their bluff? You maybe? You're just a lowly customer with deep pockets in their minds.

Well even with my current discount, I want to leave sprint and go with a low end low cost carrier. So if they don't give me some sort of deal, they loose almost a ten year customer.

"Lifetime customer value" is a most misunderstood concept - especially by phone companies.

Good luck.

I would suggest that if you go with a lower end cell company to get good flat rates, go with Cricket. I know people who use Cricket and they really like the service.

Yeah. I was going to flash my blackberry over to them. I'll lose voicemail, text messaging, and internet. But I'll be able to keep my blackberry, which I use heavily as a task manager and mp3/video player. And once in a while, a phone.

You don't have to let them 'flash' it. If you unlock it or get an unlocked blackberry made to work with their network (CDMA), then you can use all the features of the device on any network you want that the phone is compatible with.

I'm so glad you said something! After a bit of reading on "UNLOCKING" (not flashing) it turns out my phone comes "unlocked". It requires a bit of work to change providers but it's very easy compared to other smart phones. And cricket is one of the few providers my phone is compatible with. Thanks Zantor! If I remember correctly, this is the second time you’ve given me great info on a tech issue! I really appreciate it.
