OMGOSH DEER in back yard

Post by Zantor »

Hey y'all.

As of as I write this, a deer is in my back yard grazing on the grass and clover (no my lawn isn't perfect).

This is a first, especially in my area; it's a nice quiet suburb, and I've never seen wildlife larger than a full-grown raccoon.

Those guys are a huge annoyance over here.
edit:
Guns don't kill. Angry gardeners do.

Its wild kingdom in my neighborhood. Seeing someone posting a lost cat or dog poster in the neighborhood means they are new and or not familiar with the concept of Nature having a food chain. We have Street Deer here, they come in gangs and pillage the gardens or anything else and then kick over the rest. Deer are harmless compared to the Cougar and Grizzly. A recent survey of my Town revealed people were more worried about being eaten by wildlife than over any man made crime.

But its nice to see deer if you haven't seen many.

What I hate is how unafraid they are of people. Going running during winter, I'd turn a corner and be 10 feet from a group of bucks.

Canuck I am afraid of being eaten by a deer. Hold me. :P

We've had a doe with two fawns running around chasing each other in our back yard. We've also seen foxes, coyotes, a goat (escaped from a nearby farm I presume), and six rather angry bulls that were running away from those trying to recapture them and stuff them back into their trailer.

Back in the country home we have seen plenty of deer, we have also seen foxes, coyotes, bears, wolves, rabbits, fishers, skunks, badgers, racoons, snapping turtles and porcupines. One of the neighbors saw some mountain lions once too.

But now we live in the middle of town were you only see dogs, cats, rabbits and white trash.

That's nothing. I get four or five deer a day tromping through my yard. It's a regular deer freeway. I need a rent-a-cougar to keep them at bay! They stomp on or eat everything. :P

Yawn.

Deer = unwanted hood ornaments.

Kill em and eat them for the venison. Keep the antlers for fireplace decoration.
