Monitor issue

Post by VonVulcan »

Ok, so I find this monitor sitting in our truck yard the other day, a Viewsonic VP211P. Looks in good shape. I took it home and hooked it up and it works fine... for about 30-45 minutes. Then it shuts off.
It feels pretty warm right at the top center. I looked the monitor up and see it is rather slow and old but for my wife, it would be fine. Email and some surfing.
So any ideas? Simple fix or set it down in a truck yard somewhere?

Blow a fan over it and see what it does.

blown caps on the power board
let me guess, blinking green light

I seem to have a better workout dodging your stupidity than attempting to grasp the weight of your intelligence.

Might I add, after an indeterminate period of time, I turn it back on and it functions normally for 30-45 minutes again.

yeah, I go with Krom on this one. get a cheap clip on fan. That really sounds like a heat thing. Maybe some sheilding came loose or something when it was in the truck.

Depending on the fan a cheap one might be a poor idea, you want one that can blow over the monitor from a good distance since electric motors like the ones in most fans and CRTs usually don't mix well...

If you don't know what I'm talking about, try it yourself and watch the purdy colors. hurrrrrr.

his is a flat panel. A rather nice one at that. but fans and CTR's can have entertaining effects on epileptics. ^_^
