I wonder how Sarah Palin feels about this
Since Bee feigned starting a thread about Palin resigning, but failed to do so. I thought I'd chime in on the matter.
I find it a complete double standard that while Palin was running for VP her family including her infant son and underage daughters were dragged through the media in despicable fashion, and virtually called whores by certain talk show hosts, which IMHO was probably a major underlying cause of her resignation. not to mention the 20+ dismissed frivelous law suits brought against her on supposed corruption charges. and her mounting legal debt because of that, which is a personal debt, and not something that can be shifted to the state.
yet now that the Presidents girls are a MINOR target of politics, suddenly they are off limits????

Secondly, your saying that its OK to report something on a politicians underage children as long as the intent is to harm the politician, but it has to be dirt???
maybe just MAYBE I would agree regarding Palin's oldest daughter for her lack of judgment. but where does that leave Willow, with the Letterman incident. AND the presses implying that Palin's youngest son was actually the child of her oldest daughter. which we now know was a fabricated lie. and yet I have never seen an appology OR retraction by the news organizations that ran with it

David Letterman apologized on the air, and in a telephone call to Sarah Palin. The newspapers also ran the apology...maybe just MAYBE I would agree regarding Palin's oldest daughter for her lack of judgment. but where does that leave Willow, with the Letterman incident. I have no real idea what the reason is for Sarah Palin quitting, but what I do know is that the pressure of scrutiny, right or wrong, was something she was unable to handle. That alone makes her unsuitable for any run for the presidency.

Letterman appologized because of pressure maybe he shouldn't be hosting a talk show,Bet51987 wrote: David Letterman apologized on the air, and in a telephone call to Sarah Palin. The newspapers also ran the apology.

And your ASSUMING it was the pressure of scrutiny on Palin, maybe it was. maybe it was exactly what she said it was. the frivilous law suits preventing her from doing her job and costing Alaska money. I dont know. do you or are you just assuming
If you take her at her word…
She said…her “staff” is unable to do its job, because of all the lawsuits and such…therefore it’s in the states best interest, to resign.
She never said…“she” can’t do the job. (at least not in the coverage I saw) Would be the same thing either way.
Is it true concern for the public good? Or is it a personal weakness? I’m not going to make that call, and I know damn well it will go right down party lines…

So let me get this straight. Palin resigns her job and gets vilified. Yet Hillary quits her Senate job and no big deal. Obama quits his senate job and no big deal. Am I missing something?
I await now your arguments that Hillary and Obama quit to go on to bigger and better things or can we rephrase and say they quit really for personal self gain and are praised for it. Palin quit for altruistic motives of saving her state tax money and is lambasted.
Nice eh?

here's your chance Bee prove to us right wingers we're wrong.

Bird I'm pro Palin not because she is Republican, rather she is conservative. I'd like to see somebody in the White House for a change that has seemingly real values and a family many of us can relate to. Palin has those.
I'm ambivalent about Palin leaving her Gov.job but still I think she would make for a very effective conservative President.
Before any of you hammerheads think I'd vote for anyone Republican, I would of voted for Hillary over McCain (up until Palin was picked as VP)
The fear factor the Dems show towards Palin is nothing short of amazing or do some of you think all the personal attacks aimed towards her were done because of the comedy value?

She's not ready for the starting position, she really needed to be Vice President under McCain to fast track her skills.
She is the \"maverick conservative\" McCain pretends to be and she has the instincts of a real leader but lacks the nuts and bolts knowledge of both national politics and maybe even the world at large.
I think if she runs for the top spot and gets close to getting the party nomination she'll go down in flames and fracture the republican party...which is why I'd be tempted to vote for her!
Between her and Obama we might just see some major damage caused to both wings of the One Party Disguised As Two.

It's never good to wake up in the shrubs naked, you either got way too drunk, or your azz is a werewolf.
It would seem Palin is gearing up and if the following statement by her is any indication, Obama will have his hands full come the 2012 presidential election. Heck, I think liberals in general will have their hands full:
\"The America I know and love is not one in which my parents or my baby with Down Syndrome will have to stand in front of Obama's 'death panel' so his bureaucrats can decide, based on a subjective judgment of their 'level of productivity in society,' whether they are worthy of health care. Such a system is downright evil,\" Palin wrote.\"
Notice she does not use PC speak and calls a spade a spade.
If Palin succeeds in forming a conservative coalition as she intends, we may finally see some real definition in what the various party platforms are.

A leader says follow me and goes to the front.and people follow
A commander says get over there and do what I say, forcing the issues
what do we have in our Politicians?

Bee, consider your own ability to respond under the two different scenario's.
A: You answer a question in a nationally broadcast TV interview off the top of your head, you didn't anticipate the subject matter of the question so you just wing it and you know every syllable of your response will be picked apart by a press corp that wants you to fail....
I'd say there is some unusual pressure there for someone who was thrust onto the national stage.
B: You sit quietly in your own private space and compose a statement with the luxury of all the time you want to finish it including the freedom to rewrite it and edit as much as you want then release it only when you are satisfied you have it just the way you want it.
Do you expect me to believe you wouldn't do better under scenario B?
I wonder how you would do under scenario A.
The real test for her if she's going to run a serious bid for office is how she does now that she has been thrown from the frying pan into the fire. If she doesn't show signs of improvement then she's done for early. If, on the other hand, she comes out with some polish and substance and savvy she will bury someone like Biden or Gore or even Hillary in the polls because she will have multiplied her already substantial following.
Her republican opponents would have to very careful to attack her because they could alienate Palin voters from moving to their camp once they dispose of her in a primary. It could divide the republican base (my dream scenario).
My guess is she is planning to stay in the private sector and enjoy the prospect of building her popularity, getting paid a lot for her opinions and have the luxury of not having to be so careful about what she says.
She could easily start to raise funds for a campaign she doesn't really intend to win, let Romney or whoever take the nomination and style her 'campaign' around cementing herself into the rightwings heart rather than ultimately winning the nomination so that post campaign she could sell lots of books, speeches, lend her support to others campaigns etc. etc.

First of all, Palin is an AIRHEAD BIMBO without enough brains to run ANYTHING, let alone be Veep! If you like her and your male, you're thinking ONLY with your pants brain!
Also, she's a closet socialist herself with the Alaska Oil revenues she managed as governor.

Read part of her quote: \"we wanted a fair and equitable share of the resources that we own.\" Translation: SPREAD AND SHARE THE WEALTH!
