There is no need for either, I would never go above and beyond the norms of this open forum.

That being said, please read my entire post and point out which page of Obama's plan contains the wording that excludes illegal aliens.

You can't for if you do, as you say, have enough of a brain to handle me, you'll have to admit I'm right. :D

Those are both “lip service” and not actual accomplishments.

The only true accomplishment I can name so far (other than negative ones) is becoming the first black president. (and I use the term “black” loosely)

But, I am assuming the term is not meaning “talents”…which is also included in the definition.

We don't, and I've said I think teachers get politically preachy far too often.

But there's no reason to assume it's some kind of widespread propaganda or conspiracy.

P.S. Everyone, enough with the pseudo-flames. We all know who leans which way politically; there's no need for bringing in other topics. As has been mentioned, just stay involved in your kids' education.

TC beat me to it. I had it typed up and everything but you can just read hers in the other thread. You're not right.

Also, you should read about EMTALA (Emergency Medical Treatment And Labor Act) that was signed into law in 1986 by Ronald Reagan....a republican.

Bet, I'm willing to give Obama a chance at his Presidency and see what goals he eventually attains, but I'm afraid I agree with most of the others here. It's just a little too creepy having children singing songs praising him while he's still in office and hasn't even had a chance to form his historical legacy yet. It appears a little to similar to scenes of brainwashed people of some dictatorial country worshiping their despot and I don't want to see that appearance stain Obama (as much as others here like to paint him).

Bet, you're right about EMTALA.
Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services wrote:In 1986, Congress enacted the Emergency Medical Treatment & Labor Act (EMTALA) to ensure public access to emergency services regardless of ability to pay. Section 1867 of the Social Security Act imposes specific obligations on Medicare-participating hospitals that offer emergency services to provide a medical screening examination (MSE) when a request is made for examination or treatment for an emergency medical condition (EMC), including active labor, regardless of an individual's ability to pay. Hospitals are then required to provide stabilizing treatment for patients with EMCs. If a hospital is unable to stabilize a patient within its capability, or if the patient requests, an appropriate transfer should be implemented.
There's no provision to check legal status here either and it was formed under Reagan. Damn, some Republican socialism!

So we don't want to deny someone emergency care. It doesn't mean we want to adopt them and pay their way through college and cover their expenses on a day to day basis. We're compassionate but not stupid.

Of course not. I recited the Gettysburg Address as Lincoln as a 4th-grader; I fully understand and appreciate children learning from and about history.

The difference is that this isn't history, it's a current administration. Perhaps someday there will be something memorable for children to re-enact or sing songs about, but right now that kind of song is inappropriate for a public-school educator.

I don't get you Will. First you carp about the possibility of Obama's health care plan being used by illegal aliens and in the next breath you talk about compassion. If you were truly compassionate, you'd be for some form of not-for-profit health care for everyone, whether they're legal or not, especially those people who can't afford to pay for it. So this other bill, passed by Reagan years ago, which essentially forces hospitals to care for injured illegals, regardless of ability to pay, is compassionate legislation to you and not the socialist legislation you claim that Obama's trying to pass? And you claim my logic is warped!

I finally figured out what creeps me out about this video of children singing praises about Obama. It's the idolatry of a living person. The proper time to idolize a person is for a short grieving period right AFTER they've died OR after a period of time has passed and they've become an important figure in history. Obama's still a living person, so any idolatry of him is a little off base. I'll try to support him in many things while he's in office, but I will not idolize him. Children singing praise of our President, no matter who it is, is just creepy and improper. Sorry Bet.

I think TC's last passage hits the nail on the head. 20 years ago, it was acknowledged that globalization was inevitable. We now see that as a very real possibility. If we teach children to quit singing for an ideal or the collective, but instead to sing praise and exalt an individual, in 20 more years they will bow at a mans feet.
America is not the norm and never has been. The norm is for an elite few to control and determine a peoples fate single minded. Now Obama has got a \"NEW CHANGE\" for education. That change could exert considerable force against anyone with children. From what I've read his idea of Education Reform resembles that of China or Japans systems, where truthfully they excel but at the loss of self determination. So maybe this seems alarmist to some. I just see another 20 years.

It's not "in the plan", just like demanding proof of citizenship before receiving taxpayer funded services isn't in the plan either...
It is illegal to be here BUT if you are you get to stay because the fed orders state and local police to stop calling INS to have the illegals deported! Cities run by liberals mandate that their cops DON'T ask for proof of citizenship!
My children will have to pay out of state tuition if they go to another state to college but illegals...ILLEGALS...pay in state tuition...etc.etc.....they use the local emergency room as a 24/7 free doctor... welfare/food stamps/etc.etc.

So yea, it's not in the plan (what plan anyway?) but those of us with our eyes open know what is up. You girls can continue to dance between the raindrops but the rest of us know you are all wet.

TC, if someone breaks into my house and I find them bleeding to death from cutting themselves on the glass door they forced open I'd stop the bleeding out of compassion...but I'd press charges against them for stealing their way into my house out of a sense of protecting my own. It is the same thing only in the case of the illegal aliens my liberal neighbors are going to come tell me I shouldn't press charges and instead contribute to the thieves daily welfare?!?
I don't think so! I don't care how badly the democrats need their vote...illegal votes at that...but of course we need to issue them licenses so they can vote right?!?
Pathetic how you want to ignore the law when it serves your crappy political party and then you have the balls to try and shame me into accepting your blatent democrat fanboyism as logic?!?

Hmmmmmm, Obama's not the only President to have songs sung about him. I've found a couple of instances of singing that praise Bush and Nixon, of all people, too. This song sung by children during the 2006 White House Egg Roll with Laura Bush praises her hubby for doing such a good job for the survivors of Katrina (yeah, suuuuuuure, \"Heckava job Brownie!\") Can't find the old video so here's the relevant transcript:

Katrina could not stop us, our hopes will never fade.
Congress, Bush and FEMA
People across our land
Together have come to rebuild us and we join them hand-in-hand!

This one from the movie 'Jesus Camp' is damn creepy and even violates Christian doctrine against Idolatry by using a cutout of BUSH and having the kids sing to it! ICK!

More comments about the 2006 Bush song and where the Jesus Camp video link came from (comments section):

http://scienceblogs.com/dispatches/2009 ... o_dear.php

But here's a little gem from Nixon's (\"I'm not a crook\") time. If they only knew!

So this Obama song was sung by the kids in February (months ago) and the school even sent notices to the parents with the contents of the song and NO PARENT OBJECTED back then! WHY NOW! Ahhhhhhhh! Cluster Faux News stirring up their delusional viewers for yet another Obama bashing!

Ya, they should've done more stories on celebrity "shocks" instead. Those have more news value, and raise MUCH more intellectual thought.

I don't think it's *quite* a non-story. I think the teacher and the class instelf in that one instance is fairly irrelevant, as there is no substansial connection between her and Obama. But the discussion it brings is far more important. Not just about the worship of Obama by most media, Hollywood, etc. but the idolization of living figures in general. So in that sense, no, I don't think it's a non-story.

You might get more value out of discussions if you didn't just flat how reject it because someone on FOX mentioned it.

Ferno, I know it was Black History Month in February. That's why the schools did the videos. But it's still creepy to idolize a living President, no matter who it is or what historical precedence his or her Presidency represents. The schools shouldn't have done it.

Duper, GOOD GOD NO! However, I didn't wish him to die or be overthrown by a military coup like the crazies on the right are asking now for Obama.

Alpha DoG, I think the video was pulled because the kids faces weren't blurred out. There was a blurb on the TV news about the kid's parents not getting asked for public viewing consent.

maybe. but it's done, and it doesn't change the fact that the parents had no problem with it.
