In that case the solution is probably in older drivers not newer ones. A lot of the latest drivers from Nvidia and ATI have gotten pretty buggy in Descent 3 over the last couple years. Its almost getting to the point where D3 will need a legacy box of its own to run well.
And if it is an Intel video chip, its pretty much hopeless.

No, no, it's not a command you type in-game.S13driftAZ wrote:Im typing in -nosound and its not working.
It's an option you enter into the command-line field in the "Misc" tab in the D3 Launcher dialog.
P.S. If you don't have anything in that command-line field, I have some recommendations.

All the above mentioned in this thread I have tried.
Descent 1.4, running no-cd patch, Mercenary
Windows XP, Media Center Edition, SP2
Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU
6300 @ 1.86 GHz
1.58 GHz, 0.98 GB of RAM
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE
Ummmmmmm.... anything else i should mention?
BTW this is doing the same thing on three separate computers, one also running vista.

If it is doing it on 3 different computers, odds are there is some program you use on all 3 of them that prevents D3 from exiting properly. Have you tried exiting/disabling all unnecessary programs and services including your antivirus/firewall? If doing that fixes it, then reboot and start disabling programs one at a time till you find the one responsible.

He/She/Isaac obviously can not accept very simple advice....round and roundS13driftAZ :Posted Thu Nov 05, 2009 6:52 pm wrote:Well, McAfee is the only thing I can think of at the moment that my computers have in common, but I dont see any way of terminating it completely.
yet if someone regurgitates it, S13driftAZ finds it appealing...
or just maybe it's just beyond his/her/Isaac's scope of understanding
