Focus Credit Group scam?

Post by Sedwick »

So this afternoon I get a robo-call from \"Focus Credit Group\" saying my debit card has been deactivated because of some unusual transaction. My card is with a major bank, and I'd never heard of this outfit before. Trying to get an operator, I hit 0...a lot. It asked me for my debit card number, expiration date, security code, and PIN. I entered all 0s for each item (well, OK, 10/10 for the expiration date), and then it told me my card was reactivated and said goodbye. Has anyone else heard of this scam going around?

scam.

when they ask for that kind of information, it's a dead giveaway.

but i like what you did when they asked for that information. now it's going to be in their database and it'll slow em down a bit. If only more people did that there would be a lot less scams floating around.

Don’t expect the DNC list to protect you from scams, it’s like a lock…it only protects you from honest people.

The DNC list in Canada is a scam. If your name is on it, any company in the US can buy it for 50$ and contact you. Also, if you get called by your TV provider and they ask if you want to take a short survey, they now have the right to give your number to any of their affliates. Lovely isn't it?

Its a phishing scam for sure. Go ahead and report the call to the FBI, I'm sure whoever is responsible will love having a few agents knocking at the door.
