Dar al Harb

Dar al Harb (Arabic: دار الحرب \"house of war\") refers to areas outside Muslim rule, as opposed to Dar al Islam. The precise designations of such territories can vary widely according to the speakers idea of who is and is not a Muslim, and which governments are or are not Muslim in practice. \"It has been determined by Islamic law that the blood and property of people of Dar Al-Harb are not protected.\"

Likewise, Sheikh Ali Gomaa said in an interview published in July 2003 by the Egyptian newspaper Al-Haqiqa:

\"...it is permitted to kill him, because he is a Harbi and the Harbi spreads corruption throughout the face of the earth.\"

Dar al-Harb, like Dar al Islam and similar terms, are not found in the Quran or in the Hadith which are the core basis of Islam.

Report I read said he he (Hasan) had just been told he was going to be shipped out for a deployment (Iraq? A-stan?). If so, perhaps that set him off.

I think I'll wait for the data dust to settle a bit and see if teh media can start to report some actual information instead of rumors and rumors of rumors.

Federal law enforcement officials told The Associated Press that Hasan had come to their attention at least six months ago because of Internet postings that discussed homicide bombings and other threats. The officials said they are still trying to confirm that he was the author.

My gut tells me he was acting out his fears. I'm thinking he wasn't an Islamic fundamentalist he was playing the role of one because that is the bogeyman that they/we all fear.

He probably adopted much of the post traumatic stress he was seeing in his patients. The hopelessness of the situation became too much to bear once he got orders to deploy into the heart of it all.
I'm guessing he was bringing to a boil that which he thought was inevitable, it's that same old twisted self destructive logic we see from time to time like someone who freaks out and shoots their family and then themselves. He just put a twist on it, because of his experiences as a military psychiatrist his message was in the context of his military family instead of immediate family.

He may have been shouting 'God is great' on the outside because that put the right face on the attack but inside he was shouting 'You want to see me and my buddy's get shot up by radicals...OK lets do it right here, right now!!'
It was the ultimate protest much like the suicide bombers he seemed to focus on.

At the time of my post Mr I follow the news ever so closely dude, it was being reported that 2 possibly 3 gunmen were involved. Other attempted attacks by Muslims had been thwarted already, so I should of thought this incidents was carried out by christian tea baggers?
