Is there a good place to look up info on networking issues in windows 3.11? I'm going nuts.

Windows 3.11? Why would anyone want to? :?

Tip: With Windows 3.11, only \"Windows for Workgroups\" (seperate package from plain ol' Windows 3.xx) allows networking for that version of Windows. ALL other attempts to network requires your networking components to be external of Windows 3.xx (in other words installed, loaded, running, logged in, etc. before Windows 3.xx is even loaded).

Good Luck ('cause you're really gonna need it) and expect to get used to 'tweaking' the memory load configuration (how, when, how much... of the terminate and stay resident programs and software ... !@#$@ what memories).

x2 what Duper said as well.

Look at who asked the question, why do you ask why?

I seem to have a better workout dodging your stupidity than attempting to grasp the weight of your intelligence.

I've been running searches on my issue but it doesn't seem anyone has the same problem I do. I guess I'll keep searching around.

Getting a network to operate in Windows 3.1 is identical to getting a network to operate in MS-DOS.

I found an old copy of windows 98 in my cd graveyard. It's a spectacle of graphics and sound.

I was able to get my old Win3.11 PC on the internet via a 14.4 dial-up modem back in '94 or so. It required some trial-and-error with an .ini, but it worked. Never did it with an ethernet card until I had Win95.

3.11 ran so slow in Virtualbox I had to leave it. I thought it would be a real light weight OS that could use IE 6. Something that would boot quickly.

Windows 98 also ran slow on VB.

Xp runs great on it. So I'm back using that.

Heck, no. IE didn't come around until well after Win3.1. Web surfing on Win3.1 was either one of the text-based browsers, or something like Netscape Navigator if you had enough RAM to run it.

Well it has IE 6.0 already on it! It works. It's just painfully slow.
