D1 Anybody?

D1 Anybody?
So I just installed D1X 1.43 and I totally dig the OpenGL and UDP/IP support. I haven't played Descent in about 5 years, so I'm looking to play a few games. UDP seems to work fairly well, at least it did in the few games I tested it with. If anyone out there wants to play, let me know, I'd love to get a few 4 player games going.

Lothar, I've had Kali since '96. My point here is that its no longer necessary to play D1 with the apparent addition of UDP/IP support. That makes D1 equivelent to all other multiplayer games on the market. Whether or not the performance is helped or hindered by this addition remains to be seen.
Also, I ran D1x on three different WindowsXP machine last night, each with vastly different hardware and I didn't have a single problem on any of them. One was a P4 based system with a 9700 pro, another was a Nforce2 based system using the integrated gf4mx graphics, another was a classic athlon system running on an AMD760 motherboard and a GF3 Ti200. All ran OpenGL mode full screen without a single issue.

All I did was copy the "Descent" directory off my D1 cd. Then I downloaded D1x 1.43 from PlanetDescent and unzipped it into the directory. Thats all I did.
I created a d1x.ini file with the following contents:
-joypolled
-dynamicsockets
-playermessages
-1024x768
-nicefps
-shortpackets
-pps 6
-noredundancy
-fullscreen
-gl_mipmap
-gl_reticle 2
The makes it 1024x768 full screen with some OpenGL blending options on.
Here's a copy of my .plr and .plx files configured for my Sidewinder 3d pro. I have it configured as follows:
Y1 = pitch up and down
X1 = turn left and right
X2 = bank
plr file
plx file
Download those and give em a shot.
