Team Speak 3!

Post by Duper »

FINALLY!

This is an open beta. Lots of new shiny things. Server ops, get a jump on this.

For those that think Vent is \"better\".. whatever, please save it for another thread. I'm just getting the work out.

Yet, and it apparently works in Wine.

Only sort-of.

1. You can't use a PTT button, as it can't catch keystrokes when it's not in focus
2. It always gave me weird mic-level issues when I plugged my mic in. It would take a few minutes of fiddling with volume levels, etc, to get the thing to properly cut in and out each time I wanted to use my mic.
3. The "customizable volumes" feature doesn't work

So, for a linux user, vent through wine is no better than teamspeak, plus it's got annoyances. Teamspeak gets my vote, for having a linux-native client.

So many games are incompatible with Linux that I've never before heard anyone prefer TS over Vent for that reason.

The German Descent community ( http://www.descentforum.de/forum ) prefers TS because of crossplatform support.
