In Remembrance

Post by woodchip »

Today, April 19th marks a day many Men, Women and especially children were killed needlessly by a act of misguided terrorism. Kindly remember all those who were killed in a most hideous manner at Waco, TX.

Where-as the Oklahoma Bombing is being remembered most loudly, Waco was a act of terrorism by our own government and thus the more heinous of the two tragedies. Please burn a effigy of Janet Reno if you have the time.

Woodchip,

I lived in Oklahoma City fifteen years ago, close enough to not only hear the blast, but feel the momentary air-pressure change from it.

It's still a painful period to remember, and I know people who lost family members. Feel free to talk about Waco... but please don't dismiss the Murrah-building bombing as a \"lesser tragedy\".

Foil, I don't view either as the greater or lesser evil. In both cases innocent people died because madmen ran amok.

I know that none of you particularly like Rachel Maddow, but she's doing a special tonight (4/19/10) on MSNBC called 'The McVeigh Tapes' and there's a lot of never before heard audio from Timothy McVeigh recorded while he was in prison. Might be an interesting program.

The Davidian cult was ready to commit mass murder-suicide. The feds merely provided the trigger.

Yes, the feds acted recklessly when they charged in to get the Davidians, but it doesn't excuse the cult from their self-induced massacre by fire.

The 19th will be remembered for the terrorist McVeigh and his atrocity in Oklahoma City.

Yet it was Waco that triggered Oklahoma. And TB, David Koresh could of been arrested numerous times as he went into Waco regularly. Having a federal swat team come knocking had the predictable results. Lets hope our govt. learned something in the process.

Here's a good read on the subject.

And Sarah Palin will be remembered as the group leader who spawned the next McVeigh.
Bee
That seems to be the left's fondest wish, Bee.

What's worrisome is that the left is out there trying \"paint\" racists and terrorist faces over its political foes - when this isn't true of the \"tea party\" in the slightest.

In fact, the \"agitators\" seeded within the \"tea party\" or any other anti-incumbant movement are later revealed to be political plants openly encouraged and espoused by leftist supporting activist groups.

\"crashtheteaparty.org\" anyone?

Lol! I don't know if you are truly that fragile or just that blatantly partisan...either way, due to your condition, you are being taken advantage of by your party. You are the model 'dream constituent' that both party's dream of to enable them to continue the status quo. They couldn't have screwed this country up so badly if not for your kind of involvement.

There is hope for us though, I was you 25 years ago only coming from the other side so keep paying attention and hopefully soon you will understand what you are seeing.

[Sigh]

Was it too much to hope this thread would actually be about remembering those who died and honoring the rescuers? [Talking about the bombing in my hometown.]

I'm saddened to say it might have been. They're too busy pointing political fingers at each other, dissecting other's comments for anything they can grasp on just so that they can be heard one way or another.

I remember much of the day that bombing happened. Many lives were lost and I shall not forget.

Actually, Foil...a proper memorial thread would (oddly enough) be more appropriate for the PTMC Cafe than for the Ethics and Commentary board.

\"Commentary\" is just expected here. :P

The thread opened with a request to burn in effigy an Attorney General so the whole ' working toward a memorial theme' was playing against a stacked deck ;)

It must of been Palin who triggered this guy eh?:

"A man accused of threatening to kill House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-Va.) appears to have twice donated money to Barack Obama's presidential campaign, the Center for Responsive Politics' research indicates.

Federal records indicate a Norman Leboon Sr. of Philadelphia donated $255 to Obama's campaign on June 20, 2008, followed the next day by a $250 donation. They are the only federal-level donations made by a person with the surname "Leboon" on record.

FBI officials on Saturday arrested Leboon at 1653 Benner St. in Philadelphia -- the same address listed in conjunction with the two donations. Campaign finance disclosure documents list Leboon's occupation as "disabled/retired."

Now which party's nut jobs are advocating 'open carry' gun laws? We've got one here locally who's trying to get open carry on Oregon university campuses.

http://media.barometer.orst.edu/media/s ... 5246.shtml

And which party's followers openly carry weapons to their rallies holding up signs of outright vile hostility towards the President or Congress? Which party is stirring up their base by claiming the 'other party' is going to take your guns away? Hog wash! The only time that gun laws will probably become draconian is when gun toting Americans eventually threaten Corporate America and their power. Right now, it's "good for business".
Bet51987 wrote:I don't believe for one second that any decent republican or democrat has that wish. Bee, I think that Fox News, and Glenn Beck especially, are far more culpable in stirring up the crazies than Sara Palin. She's just a 'hanger on' wannabe out to make money and fame. She doesn't have an ounce of brains in her head and God help us if she gets into high office.
