\"South Park\" creators get death threat

Post by Nightshade »

And these guys really do kill the people they threaten:

'South Park' Creators Could Face Retribution for Depicting Muhammad, Website Warns

By Joshua Rhett Miller

- FOXNews.com

A radical Islamic website is warning the creators of \"South Park\" that they could face violent retribution for depicting the Prophet Muhammad in a bear suit during an episode broadcast on Comedy Central last week.
They even posted pictures of their previous \"work.\"

The Web posting also included a graphic photo of Theo van Gogh, a Dutch filmmaker who was murdered in 2004 after making a documentary on violence against Muslim women.
Make fun of Christians and Jews? No biggie.

Make fun of Muslims? Your life may be forfeit.

It wasn't their funniest episode, but still a good one.

If I wanted adverts, I'd tune to lifetime (Television for WhoaMen.)

Damn, was planning on streaming it from www.southparkstudios.com (its their site), and you get the message:

\"We apologize that south partk studios cannot stream epsidode 201 at this time. After we delivered the show, and prior to broadcast, comedy central placed numerous additional audio bleeps throughout the episode. We do not have network approval to stream our origional version.\"

Real snarky AlphaDoG. I was only telling people that if they wanted to see what would happen to the show, they could tune in.

As it was, the EAST coast feed was broadcast, which we get here in Oregon on Comcast HD only, but it was so heavily censored at the end that you couldn't tell what the hell was going on. They bleeped entire sentences, not just words! Then I find out that the WEST coast network cable feed AND the internet feed from Comedy Central was pulled all together. You didn't miss much from what I saw of it anyway. They must have been smokin' something when they wrote that show.

A Statement from Matt and Trey
In the 14 years we've been doing South Park we have never done a show that we couldn't stand behind. We delivered our version of the show to Comedy Central and they made a determination to alter the episode. It wasn't some meta-joke on our part. Comedy Central added the bleeps. In fact, Kyle's customary final speech was about intimidation and fear. It didn't mention Muhammad at all but it got bleeped too. We'll be back next week with a whole new show about something completely different and we'll see what happens to it.

If it was going to get censored and attracted death threats, they should have just gone all the way; put (I want) Moe-ham-Ed(dy) next to Paris Hilton getting wasted or something, for starters.

The conspiracy theorist in me thinks that Comedy Central did that much editing, to create a story about itself.

While they look like total hypocrites for allowing the image of Buddha snorting Cocaine, but not even showing Mohomid, or allowing his name to be uttered, in the end people feel more sympathetic towards the show, it boosts the shows ratings, and helps Comedy central.

Sort of how Fox had Sarah Palin and Family Guy go at each other for ratings? :P

Did you hear Stewart say where the group that put out the 'death threat' is located? It came from an Islamic group based in New York of all places. So, we, in the good old US, can allow all other religious figures to be mocked without regard, but then we cave to the threats of ONE religion's group, that is living in New York under our county's free speech laws. Either we need to respect ALL religious figures or give them all the same treatment. Which is it going to be? Maybe Christians and Hindus should be putting out a few death threats of their own if they're not happy with the media's portrayal of their prophets. Last I heard, there is free speech here. This is not some repressive Islamic nation.

Comedy Central needs to move to Tehran so some one with some balls can fill their spot.

So that's what the final part of the show was about that was thoroughly bleeped out! Corporate weenies!

Islam extremists literally embody all the worst aspects of religion. The world would certainly be a better place if all religion were to be abandoned.

yeah ... Communist Russia was a grand place.

Honestly, Xf, I don't think you really want to see that. Without a moral base, things would get more than ugly ... Fast
