I'm going with Big screwup.

but TC you REALLY need to stop reading the DailyKos, either try something besides the Kos or the Huffington post, or start listening Savage and Beck to balance it out :P

Come on CUDA, give me a break! I don't normally read the Daily Kos and I really don't have time to either. I just heard about it from a friend and the Kos just happened to have the picture handy. It IS a funny one isn't it?

Agreed.

There was a separate news story yesterday about Malcolm X's killer being released from prison, which is pretty clearly what that picture is from. That was the top story on CNN while the Obama Iowa visit was second.

It's not that hard to imagine a scenario in which a news site might get their headline and picture desynchronized. "Hey intern, new top headline: Obama in Iowa." "Replacing the Malcolm X story?" "Yeah." "OK, it's up. Anything else?" "Help me dig through these Obama pictures and decide on one to go with the new headline." "Oh, I just left the old picture up."
